It is amazing how the most innocent words
containing four letters can be transferred over to the Dark Side in terms
of use - in this particular case, the word is Wind - the added descriptor being
'distinct lack of''. In addition, previously romantic references to
stretches of water being likened to 'mill ponds' or having the appearance
of mirrors ,or even being described as 'silk' have lost their
allure.
Yours truly has taken on the demeanour of a child
on a never-ending Christmas Eve...old toys thrown out of pram in anticipation of
THE day, and tears before tea time another distinct
possibility! However, I
must share the fact that this foggy, soggy morning was more than brightened by
the vision of a scantily clad (well, scantily for the current weather
conditions) 'yeung man' wearing kinky boots (Dubarrys) cooking a
cinnamon bagel for my breakfast. silver linings still exist
then.
The elements have even got to the normally
irrepressible Manuela who, I fear, has lost the plot since she was last seen
hanging over the bow, taking endless pictures of the sea. Do you think
that after 21 days, she has only just cottoned on?
Our last night's watch was interesting
dodging fishing vessels. Lots of them - excitement reigned since other
than the odd tanker/cargo ship, we haven't had much in the way of
company.
Still and all, motoring does provide the
opportunity of hot water, so I was able to shed the layers of clothing and have
a good old sluice down and even to wash the tatty head. Even given that I
then had to chase the aforementioned shed layers around the cabin and tame them
down before putting them back on, it still feels good to feel moderately
human again. .
OK enough of Granny Grump -though I do feel better
for getting that lot of my chest (Oooh er Mrs).
We shall keep you all apprised of any progress -
and sorry Nigel, your confident predictions of a 31st May arrival date have as
much chance as a Snowball's.
Bye for now
