We are no moving along quite nicely in 8 to 10 knts of wind with the main and genniker flying. Not exactly in the right direction but the priority seems to be just to keep moving. We are well and truely in a light wind area so are heading south which will give us more sooner.

On Tuesday night we had sailed quietly most of the night under a glorious full moon and Wednesday we sailed along in very variable conditions. Wednesday night had us motoring until 3 in the morning we had enough wind to make some progress. Thursday turned out to be an eventful day. We caught our first fish at about 9 in the morning. It was about 500 grams without its head or innards so everyone was very pleased with themselves as we thought we might be lucky to catch one a week. On investigation we concluded it was a skipjack tuna so plans for the evening meal were amended.

We decided it was time to operate the watermaker, so after much reading of the instructions we switched on and there we were with lovely pure water coming out of the pipe. After running for about 3 hours Gary discovered a leak on the joint with the primary filter. Then followed a period of much swearing and cursing by yours truly the skipper as I tried to remove the joint and redo. Won't know if it was successful until we try running it again.

In the meantime we caught another fish, again a skipjack and slightly larger.

We lost the wind in the afternoon and motored until 3 in the morning. It's now 1400 Thursday and we are moving nicely again.
