Christine's Atlantic Circuit
Peter Lansdale
Fri 24 Jun 2016 10:38
This is the first entry in what I hope will be
a record of the Atlantic cruise of 'Christine'. Christine is a Southerly 42rst
which was delivered in October 2015 after Southerly had gone bust for the second
time. I had purchased her in response to the death of my wife in September 2013
and therefore carries my wife's name.
I am Peter Lansdale, Skipper and owner and have planned
a trip which started out as an Atlantic circuit but because of the daunting
organization required my planning only stretches as far as the Caribbean and
Christmas 2016. We are intending to leave Plymouth this weekend 25/26th June to
cross to northern Spain as a first leg.
The we I am referring is the crew for this first leg.
Peter Newland is joining me for most of the legs to the Caribbean. We first
sailed together last October as a result of Peter responding to my advert on
Oceancrewlink, having got on very well together he has proved to be especially
valuable in sorting the electronics and communications. Andrew Kirwan also
responded to the advert and has done extensive passages including the ARC but is
only on board for this first passage. Terry Oliver is a long time
sailing friend and we have done many passages together although in truth he is
rather ambivalent about long distance offshore passages. I fixed this weekend as the time for departure and have
been frantically working through the long list of jobs but if I wait until all
the jobs are finished we will never set off. So off we go and we will deal with
anything else as we are underway. |
