We have been moving slowly all day as the wind has
progressively died away. This is the latest system of very light winds which
will take about another 24 hours to clear away to the east. We have decided to
take whatever comes at present and just move along slowly as that way the next
system should catch us up more quickly than if we motor along with it. After
this clears away we are expecting a couple of days of strong northerlies so we
should then be able to make better progress.
This evening, I'm on 2100 to 2400 watch, it is
warmer than of late with the result we have now got fog. It has been murky all
day but in the last couple of hours it has definately turned to fog. It is very
difficult to judge just how far you can see. At least the only things out here
with us are the occasional large ship and they should have AIS (automatic
identification system) so we can see them and be seen by them. At least we are
not in fishing area.
We are now just over 600 miles from Plymouth where
we will make our landfall and stay in Sutton Harbour but it is still nearly
impossible to predict our time of arrival. Most likely at present are the 1st or
2nd June, provided we get some decent wind!
