Well dear Readers, you may be happy to know
(we certainly are) that the "pretty" sails have been firmly stowed away under
Manuela's bit of bunk and therefore should remain there for the duration!
Yeay - no more foredeck, strapped on, sliding about and in my case hanging on
for grim death shenanigans, only to repeat same a short while later. as
things now stand we are cruising along very nicely with our 'wings' and Helga in
charge of steering.
Highlight today will be making the 'one week out'
mark at 11 am. Celebrations of great magnitude in order (sharing a 4 stick
dark chocolate Kit Kat between four - living the life eh?).
As Skip has already said, much cooler now given
that we are further north, so tans fading - picture below was actually taken
into what sun there was late afternoon, yesterday...me trying various effects on
Ps camera. Manuela currently risking soggy suicide by being dragged along
the side of the boat, trying to photograph Portuguese Men of War as they sail
past...loads of them, so there must be a convention somewhere.
We had another dolphin visitation too....though
they didn't linger.
The 'official' ARC Europe crossing starts today
from Bermuda - we met some of the participants - hopefully we shall be spared
the ignominy of being overtaken by one of the Big Boys...if only because there
is so much Atlantic to share.
On the epicurean front, we continue to avoid
starvation, the day being punctuated by breakfast, (or two of same in some
cases, no prizes for guessing culprit/s), elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea and
dinner - usually all before 7.30pm. It's hard work, I can tell you.
Dinner can sometimes be taken very seriously - the current chef sweating away in
the galley whilst the rest of the crew, like Pavlov's Dogs, gather in
anticipation around the table brandishing whatever eating irons have been
allocated.
Right - enough of this blether. I am supposed
to be on co-watch with Manuela after all so having not heard a loud splash nor a
French expletive, I presume all is OK.
