A good meal was had by all in the Taberna el Arriero,
just off the main square in La Coruna. They were very busy but made room for us
as long as they got the table back in time for the next booking. Afterwards
a stroll around the old city revealed what a beautiful place it is.
Magnificently preserved buildings and the main square is quite a
sight.
We said good bye to Paul and Babs on Lyra Major who we
had sailed with since meeting them in Vivero. They are spending a month
exploring Galicia before moving south and on to the Canaries for the
ARC.
We left Coruna at 11.00 under clear blue skies and a
reasonable breeze from the NE which developed into a really fast 2 sail reach
west along the coast to Isla Sisargas where we dropped the mainsail and had a
gentle run under the genoa before turning into the Ria de Corme. We are now
anchored in the bay immediately off the village. As it's quite windy we
took that as an excuse to avoid blowing up the dinghy so it's an evening on
board. Earlier we had enjoyed the last of Peter's veg soup for
lunch followed by cheese on toast. On arrival we took our afternoon cup of
tea with fresh home made bread. Courtesy of Peter of course, you can't get
better crew than that.
