22nd July Yesterday we sailed from Leixoes to Figeira de
Foz. We left in the fog with little wind. Fog and skies gradually cleared and
the sun and wind arrived. This seems to be a pattern everyday so that we get
good sailing each afternoon.
This morning we left Figeira in the rain but it soon
cleared and now at 1000 we are under main and gennaker making 7-8 knots which
should give us a fast passage to Peniche. Since we left early we have already
had the morning break which includes the marvellous fruit cake which Bernie,
Sean's wife, baked for us. Unfortunately we have just started the second one so
it will all be gone before we get to Lagos.
