It's very calm on board at present. Everyone except
yours truly is in their bunks having a late afternoon snooze to get ready for
the night ahead. We are expecting a front to pass over with consequent changes
in wind direction and strength.
Last night we had a south westerly gale. Consistent
mid thirties wind speed with gusts well into the forties. With it being SW we
were broad reaching on the great circle for Lizard Point so we made good
progress. During yesterday afternoon the wind had gradually increased until we
spent the night with the half rolled small genoa. The waves were large and very
short and steep but Christine rode them beautifully with only the very
occasional bit of spray entering the cockpit. It shows what a marvelous sea boat
she is. This evening the wind should veer and move all the way around to the
north. Back to being cold but we should still be able to make our course and we
are expecting only about 20 knots. Skip.
