Yesterday we motored the 80 or so mile to Marina de Lagos where I am leaving Christine until I return with my ARC crew to sail to the Canaries on the 15th August. Our last day travelling turned out to be rather tedious as we had left early and had to motor all the way. Whereas the previous day had been relaxing and enjoyable a second day was just too much. Nevertheless we arrived here about 1700 to a very different climate to the west coast, it is very hot including being very warm overnight. Real summer holiday weather. Large numbers of British holiday makers, it is the Algarve after all, with English spoken everywhere which hasn't been the case at the places we have stopped previously. It is a lovely spot though.

We have travelled some 424 miles in 7 days from Muros in Galicia and just 1000 miles from Plymouth. From Muros we have motored a total of 48 hours using 3.6 litres per hour which I think is quite high as we were always trying to cover the miles in a reasonable time and were usually doing 6.5 to 7 knots.

We cleaned the outside of the boat today and tackled a few of those jobs which are on that never ending list. Tomorrow it's up the mast again to tackle the tricolour and change the bulb to an LED. Then hopefully polish the outside and clean down below and we will be ready to head home on Thursday.
