We originally set sail yesterday at around 9:30 AM for Tinos. Two weather reports were calling for 5 to 10 kts from the south. I still have not got this figured out! The wind in the Greek islands is supposed to blow more or less continuously from the N-NW in the summer. We were clocking something like 29 kt gusts on our nose last night and then we caught a current of about 2.5 kts as we approached the passage between Evia and Andros to Athens and the shipping lanes. Ships everywhere able to make only about 1.5 kts across the ground in the roughest seas we have hit in the Med... no fun. We at least saved this one for Mary.

We were heading for Tinos but Mikinos was only 8 miles further and had a much better looking harbor. Down side... no water or power but we are tied up to a floating concrete pier and it is free. We finally found summer. Hot here to boot. After going all day and night last night we are taking naps, showers, and otherwise lounging around trying to keep cool before we take the bus into town for a 'thanks for getting us through that one' cheese burger in paradise dinner. Mikinos is not one of our favorites... it's the consummate tourist trap town... but a must see for Mary ... after this she can say she has seen Greece..

We got bounced around pretty hard. The 75 pound 10 hp outboard motor which I store in the front lazzerette (storage compartment) bounced out of its holder and crashed into the windless controls. (Gizmo used to lift the anchor and chain back on the boat) Something does not work right it only lets chain out. I was running the generator last night charging the refrigerator at the same time as the engine and it just stopped for some reason. Oh boy more stuff to fix!
