Rafted up to about 5 other boats on the Tiber river waiting to be pulled out of the water. The Altamarea Marina is going to pull us out of the water on the 2nd which would be just right. No travel lift here hope they don't drop us... About half of the lower echelon (that means cheap) marinas use two cranes to lift boats out onto a hydraulic boat over and then to a block up point. Plenty of big sail boats here so I am optimistic.

Antony and I filled up with fuel and water this morning and left the Ostia marina about 11:00 AM. We stalled around in the entrance of the river for maybe an hour... 2 beers by the official boat clock. Pretty strong current flowing out of the river. One tree passed us on the way out about the size of a decent telephone pole. Stuff has been floating out of this river since before Rome was even here. Good to have a steel boat on such occasions.

The Ostia Turista marina was a fitting reflection of most of Italy we have seen. Only 45 Euros - surprised for such a big place in Rome. Fairly new but struggling to keep all the shops filled. Things here look good but underneath there are cracks in just about everything. Good service and most of the attendants spoke English.

Antony went exploring as I filled out the paper work. He found a chicken joint down the road a piece. Supposedly a bus stops right out behind this place. Pretty rough neighborhood - we'll be back early. More later.
