tide for an assist out the straight. We set the engine for a 5kt run and
when we turned the corner at Ceuta into the straight the boat slowed to
around 3 kts ok but still moving. At about 9:00 we hit the real current .9
to o kts all the way to Tangier.
After tangier we started to pick up the tidal flow in earnest and were
making about 4 kts. We cleared the straight and were in 33 k winds heavy
confused seas and gusts to 39 kts. We finally put up half the stay sail and
the main with 3 reefs in it. Although we were making good time it was very
rough. Everyone got sea sick sometime in the night. Things moderated some
today and we turned the engine off. This evening we hoisted the full main
and are making about 7kts.
The weather forecast calls for maybe another two days of these conditions.
We all ate a small salad tonight and this is the first time I have been able
to write something. The frig and genet continue to loose prime and getting
them going is a real pain. The control line to the stay also parted again.
Still cold but it has stopped raining. All is well... but are we having
fun yet!
