Arrived safely in Ios yesterday pretty much on schedule. Dropped the anchor and backed into the space on the city wall we used in October. The place is a lot liverier now with the summer crowd here. All the restaurants are in full swing. I was able to get electricity here this stop and we ran the AC all night - hot here now as well. We used up 5 euros of power already but they have water here as well - hot showers on the boat for all!

The maltemi started blowing today as high as 25 kts. Everyone was adjusting lines all day and then the crowd starting arriving for the night in the cross wind. There is a BIG sailboat next to us with only half a mast left. Talked to them today. Spreader failed in about 20 kts and the owner escaped with only 14 stitches and no one else was hurt. Their mast was 44 meters tall. Another rental boat tried to slide in between us didn't set their anchor right and came in sideways raking his anchor against the dismasted boat. It can always get worse. We ended up tying another line across the dock to move over a little. I told the skipper it reminded me of the time I did that in Florida and came in across all those moored boats!

Mary and Katie went into town today. Mary has a new and shorter hair cut ... looks great and she feels better in the heat. They bought some jewelry. I stayed on the boat and fixed the frig. Lucky for me I had an extra raw water pump on board. Really hard to get at it however and I ended up just tie wrapping the new one in until I can get some longer hoses for a better installation.

We plan to ferry into Santorini and see Katie off on Saturday (the sure thing) and then take the boat in and anchor or try to get into the marina their for a night or two on the way to Crete.
