Bruce and Pat made Bodrum marina yesterday morning after riding out the blow and rain at a couple of different anchorages. We had them over for a pre- dinner wine tasting and then went out for a really decent steak at an Argentinean restaurant. Afterwards Bruce came back for a night cap and we all said good bye for a while. They are heading west toward Malta and plan to sail the boat back to Florida this winter.

Katie and I went to the Castle of St. John in Bodrum. Pretty big and intact from the 1400 to 1500 crusades. They tore down a mausoleum built in Bodrum that was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world for the castle stones. Then when the Turks took over they tore down most of the castle chapel and built a mosque out of it. There is just nothing one guy can build the next can not destroy.

Katie and I left this morning, checked out, got fuel and proceeded to set sail for Didium (north about 40 miles) but it was blowing hard. The 15 knots in the weather forecast was really 30 kts of wind and 5 ft seas. (Are we having fun yet?) We pulled into our alternate anchorage at Gumusluk about half way. I am not sure how long we will be here but unless this lays down some we'll likely spend another day here. I was wondering when it was a good date to start moving around the Med in the spring... April, at least this year, was a little early.
