Well we are tied up in the Mitla Bodrum Marina. Talk about sticker shock! After staying in anchorages and free quays for the last couple of weeks pulling in here to the tune of 70 Euros a night gave me pause. Bodrum is billed as the most Bohemian city in Turkey where the Turkish elite come to play. I guess some one has to pay for it all?

We started the day by finding we were truly aground at last night's pier. The wind must have blown half the water out of the harbor or something.... I could see a couple inches under the boot top. (stripe that marks the usual water line) It took literally 7 men, the Genoa sheet winch hooked to a cleat on the dock, and full reverse to get us out. Should I say we got a late start.

It blew between 15 and 25 Kts for most of the way and we even got to do a little motor sailing for the last half of the 25 mile trip. Got into Bodrum around 3 PM. We called last night and they were full but this morning they had an opening. Everything is squeaky clean, sauna, swimming pool (with no water in it), and all the trimmings. Live music in the bar at 9 PM tonight and no cover. We'll probably go up and have a $25 beer this evening if either of us is still awake.

Great looking castle here that we'll lay siege to in the morning. The other attraction is the oldest Greek theater in Turkey which you can see on the hill side overlooking the marina and... Suger, a pizza joint, recommended by both of our travel books. That was our first stop after eating an orange each all day while we were on the water. It wasn't like home, but better than most over here.
