Apologies for the lack of updates for a while. We have moved on, but not very far! The guys at Spice Island Marine did a great job of the antifouling, as can be seen in the picture below. It might sound a bit extravagant getting somebody else to do the job, but the deal is that the price for hauling out is $2 per foot more if you are doing your own work, and their rate for painting two coats is $4.60 per foot, making it only a hundred and someting dollars to get them to do it. Anyone who has ever antifouled a 38 foot catamaran (especially at 30 centigrade) will agree this is a bargain not to be missed. Perhaps more of a con not to be missed, than a bargain really. Anyway, I was really pleased with the result, which was far better than I could have done, and in a fraction of the time.
Gareth went home Wednesday last week - the picture of him with Lucas was taken just before he left. Pauline has emailed to say that she has returned to France, after a short stop in Martinique. Bron has settled in, and by last Friday we were back in the water, and anchored again in Prickly Bay.
The other day we took a taxi up to the Seven Sisters Falls (as recommended By Pauline). The driver walked with us down to the falls which were quite spectacular. I went in for a swim, but declined to go all the way to the top and jump down each one. Definitely not for the faint hearted - see the picture of the guy jumping. Swimming in a couple of the pools was very refreshing, though when you first jump in it is easy to forget how much more effort is required to swim in fresh water, after swimming in the sea every day. The picture of the view is looking down towards St.Georges (the capital of Grenada).
Yesterday we finally upped anchor and set off. We are now about half a mile further on, at True Blue Bay. Lorraine has signed up to do a refresher course for scuba diving, with the dive centre based here. Today was the first day of it, and we went and joined her in the pool at lunchtime - see photo. I don't know if the wetsuit was really necessary in the pool...
We may go round to Clarke's Court Bay Marina tomorrow to watch the six nations games on the big screen. We'll have to see what the weather's like - it's still quite windy at the moment. Lorraine's diving course finishes on Sunday, so at some point next week we head off from here up to Carriacou.
