Up early
to join the tour bus to Myra and St Nicholas' church. Lots of Russian
tourists at the church, which was built in memory of the Saint and is supposed
to be where he was buried, though his tomb is now empty as his bones were
supposedly removed by Italians some time ago. He is apparently the patron
saint of seamen, and many Turkish boats carry his icon.
Myra is the site of
rock tombs and a Roman amphitheatre.
