Day 135: Saturday 19 March 2011. African Nest Guest
House, Windhoek. S22 33.229 E017 05.703 Distance driven 233
km
I went looking for the Dinosaur's footprints before I
left the campsite this morning. i must say you need a good
imagination!
The drive of about 100 km to the tar road for Okahandja
and Windhoek was a beautiful drive on a narrow sand road across grassland with
mountains in the background. i saw lots of buck, warthogs, baboons, an
ostrich and many tortoises on the road as well as a family of about 20
meerkats. There was one long section of about 25 km across a private game
park. There was evidence of lots of rain and flooding but in general it
was a smooth fast run.
I had a look at the back-packer's camps in Windhoek but
wasn't attracted, then the Roof of Africa Hotel (nice but expensive) and ended
up next door at a small guest house where they agreed to do my laundry as
well!
I'm here to wait for Jenny to arrive at the airport
tomorrow afternoon. |
