Day 91: Thursday 3 February 2011. Sheraton Hotel, Abuja. N09 03.745 E007 29.102  Distance driven 0 km

We had a busy day with visas, but very successful.  We can't put in the applications for our Angolan visas until Monday so we thought we would try for both Cameroon and Congo before the weekend. We went first to the Cameroon High Commission and saw Big Momma, a fitting description for a big jovial lady overflowing her desk.  Their normal service is for submissions in the morning and collections the following afternoon.  With a bit of sweet-talking she agreed to try for the same afternoon and we had to phone by 1400.

We then visited the Congo Embassy, just down the road and saw Mary.  Dependent on when we could bring in the passport, she agreed to process the visas quickly. Big Momma came up trumps and we had our Cameroon visas by 1500. The Congo Embassy is only a short walk down the same road but when we got there it was closed.  We managed to get in past the guard with a machine gun and got to see Mary who was quite embarrassed to be dealing with us after hours but said we could collect the visas tomorrow morning at 0900! Fantastic!

Then back to the Sheraton for Happy Hour in the bar and a braai with Andrew and Claudia, two Belgian and one German motor cyclists.
