A frustrating day, spent quite a bit of the day
always going no where near Hiva Oa due to wind contraints. The weather GRIB
files, a computer forecast created without any humnan intervention was not
as accurate as previously. Its a good guide but doesnt always take into account
some relevant dataa. Now however we have the Code Zero sail up, its like a super
big lghtweight genoa, and with the main up we are doing 7.0 knots in 10 knots of
wind at a true wind angle of 120 deg, apparent wind angle of 075. Thats for the
sailors who may be reading this.
Our ETA for Hiva Oa is anywhere from 30 to 48
hours, and if the wind changes in strength and or directio we may have to end up
motoring tha last few miles, currently 240 to go.
