After the exciting city life, bright lights, drum bands and bustle of Salvador. We, together with three other yachts [Wishanger, Paradise Found and Katarina] headed into the great bay surrounding Salvador.  Baia de Todos os Santos. Around this bay are many charming little anchorages and rivers to explore.

We have a new temporary crew member in the form of Katherine [from Into the Blue] who is going to sail with us to Cabadelo - so thats fun for us.

The first two days and nights we spent at Itaparica about 10 miles  West of Salvador. Itparica island and town are charming ad life progresses at  much easier pace here. We anchored and swam off the boat, went ashore to the small village. We had been recommended a Pizza restaurant run by a substantial Italian lady and the pizza were some of the best we have ever eaten. We walked around the village and generally relaxed.

The we up-anchored at a leisurely 11.30ish and sailed, actually there was a good wind, North past the island of Frade to its little Northern neighbour Bom Jesus. Carango touched the ground for the first time on this circumnavigation which was very upsetting for the skipper but we successfully kedged off with three anchors out and all was well and no damage done. The bomb Jesus anchorage was even more peaceful and quiet with another little village with the usual large catholic church, dogs, cats, street cafés.

We left this idyll on Sunday at lunch time and sailed\drifted west to Iihla da Maré and the Baia de Aratu to explore
