We are stormbound on this beautiful Isola di San Pietro in the South West corner of Sardinia. They have a rather strange regional flag here with the heads of four black men in bandanas imprinted on something like the cross of St George.
They hardy regard themselves as Italian and appear to have total disdain for “Europe” - we scrambled unsuccessful for a Sardinian dialect phrase book - there is virtually no English spoken here which is good for our soles - we have to communicate in a bit of Latin smattered with the odd Spanish and French words sprinkled with some ‘O’s and a strong Italian accent. Bellissimo, Bin Giorno, Graze mille, Bonna Serra.

There were Beaufort force 6/7 winds yesterday and today Thunder and Lightening are forecast. So we set off by bicycle to explore the South of the island on our wonderful Brompton bikes:
The roads are quite good and the Island is only about 5 miles from North to South

There are lovely small beaches and gorgeous wild flowers by the road side.
