In rough weather on the passage from Raiatea to Niue we were hit by a number of ‘rouge’ waves - these are not the normal bashers but ones which for no reason and somewhat unexpectedly come from a different direction and tend to throw one off balance. Poor Vicky was working away in the galley, actually making some exotic cocktails for our 6pm drinks and hs was thrown across the cabin to finish up in the navigators chair. She sustained some every nasty bruising and in the subsequent days, still rocking and rolling at sea - I think we all came to the conclusion that she had cracked a rear rib.
She has been very brave and is now recovering well but it has not been much fun for her in the early recovery stages - especially during quite a long stretch when she could n’t get off the boat without getting wet. Hang on tight - and that’s painful.
