We were inspired this morning by a visit to a local school project. The state allocates a sum of money to educate, free of charge, all children. BUT the money allocated by the central government does not all get through to the intended destination so schools have to ask all parents for a donation. Some parents cannot afford to pay this and the children are thus left with no real hope of education or a reasonable future. The organisation which we visited has scraped money together with help from World ARC visiting yachtsmen and built a very small and basic school for some of these children. They made us a fairly lengthy presentation, all in spanish, and sang us a song.

Rather a humbling experience and good to be given the opportunity to contribute.
