9:48.56S 139:02.00W We have made it. We arrived at about 2.00am local time on 22 March after a 21 day/night crossing - some 3 days longer than the Atlantic. It has been a long crossing but we have as a crew stood up well and we are all still, I am happy to report, on good speaking terms. Atuona bay where we have anchored lies in the shadow of a large mountain peak with a very sharply pointed top. The mountain top is shrouded in a sinister dark cloud and remained so for most of our stay here. The sun penetrates in bursts to reveal an incredible verdant landscape with remarkable vegetation of tropical standard. The hills are covered on palms, mango trees, breadfruit tress and so many other species - Oleander, frangipani and bourganvillia. ![]() ![]() That night a huge cargo vessel docked VERY close to us. ![]() |
