We decided to do “the big one” and sail 36 hours direct from Leuca to Siracusa. The first overnight sail in Carango.
Arthur kitted out in Oilies, life jacket and Harness - we had quite a big sea and winds gusting up to 30Ks.

In the meantime:George - on a fishing mission.

But No Tuna yet.

We arrived in Siracusa after a great night crossing with Radar assistance managing to avoid the merchant shipping from just about every angle.

Siracusa Cathedral.
We did the tourist thing and found Siracusa to be the ancient seat of a huge Greek civilisation from 700 years BC.

A very impressive architecture and civilisation but now sadly down at heel. The Marina had been destroyed by a storm in January 2015 and was lacking safe docking and electricity. A neighbouring Norwegian yacht was nearly washed up onto the pontoon by a freak wave the previous morning. However we dined well in charming restaurants with delicious Sicilian cooking of seafood.
