10:40.65S 142:32.00E On watch for the 6-9am shift I witnessed the most beautiful sunrise East of Carango and moon set at the same time to the West. Sun Rise East Moon set West And so it went well and Carango was positioned well at 08.30 local - we entered Albany passage at 09.15 all the crew are now awake.
The Albany Passage through Cape York looks very narrow as one approaches in a turbulent confused sea with multiple tidal rips going in various directions. Such a lot of sea water to get through a very narrow gap + Carango this morning. Our best helmsman takes the wheel. We are all somewhat mesmerised by this approaching event - this is a first for all of us - we are all unsure quite what to expect. |
