Our final night in Alghero was crowned with a superb dinner in a Michelin starred restaurant in the old town. Master Chef Eoghain O’Neill presided - he had a chef CV as long as an arm and prepared a really delicious feast for us. We staggered back to Carango to have a nightcap.
Slightly blurred - I may have had a scotch too many.
The next morning we are off into quite stormy weather North to Corsica with a diversionary destination of Stintino [at the Northern tip of Sardinia]Passing this very impressive Lighthouse/Guardia Costeira station we left the protection of the land for the full blast of the elements. No problem for Carango - we set sail on a close reach and cracked on at about 8 knots under reefed staysail, main and mizzen. She sails very efficiently and safely with this rig - one feels totally confident. There is a narrow gap in the cliffs about three quarters of the way up this coats to nip through into the lee of the land but passable only in calm weather - there were white crashing breakers in the gap as we passed and so we had no option but to go the extra 20  miles round the North tip. We decided to bug out for Stintino.
Which proved to be a really typical charming Sardinian town with friendly people. We welcome calm water and a break from the storm. Sophie and Peter Plunkett and Andrew Cumming, scheduled to join us in Bonifacio will await our arrival staying one night in a hotel.
