Midday - time for log entry and working out how far we have run in the last 24 hours. There should now be another pin in the map at the beginning of the blog. We have run 178 nm - happy with that. Since we left Apooiti marina, Raiatea we have run;
To
Sunday 12th - 190 nm
Monday 13th - 171 nm
Tuesday 14th - 156 nm
Wednesday 15th - 156 nm
Thursday 16th - 178nm ———— we have 208 nm to run and should be moored off Alofi, Niue, NZ at about midnight on Friday 17th June. We have made contact with the Commodore of the Royal Niue Yacht Club [apparently they do have one boat in the club] and he has sent us a very warm kind encouraging mail welcoming Carango and crew to Niue. We are to take up mooring #17 in 18 meters depth and wait for instructions of immigration, health and customs clearance at the quay. We will have to dinghy our way to shore.

The hotel where we stayed at Raiatea was owned/run by a charming young french couple called Carinne and Olivier - they are full of enterprise and energy. The run a very nice hotel in a very remote part of the World. We got on well and spent time with them. On their menu was a particularly delicious truffle infused Foie Gras and on our departure they were kind enough to send us of with a large ‘Bloc’. We have just consumed that for lunch at sea with some tawny port we had - mid Pacific Ocean. What an experience.

It is a lovely day with bright sun and clear sky and a good steady 15 - 18 knot wind from the ESE - so perfect downwind sailing.

This is what it is all about.
