Yesterday we had two whale encounters, the first
briefly in the morning. The second, in the afternoon, was well over half an hour
with the whale swiming around the boat between 4 and 20 metres from us. It would
blow about 40 m from the boat and swim around us 1-2 m under the water. We were
able to track it from the white on its sides. An hour later we had
dolphins.
We had to lower the main yesterday to remove chaffe
areas from the main halliard at full hoist and first reef points.
