We had a brief whale encounter yesterday afternoon,
the same species as the whale two days earlier. It swam behind us for a few
minutes and then disappeared.
Last night at about 0330 UTC our steering cable
parted. Inspection of the broken end indicates a chaffe point under the cockpit
floor. I expect to be able to buy rope in the Virgin Islands to repair the
steering on Tuesday. However, repaired or not, there should be negligible inpact
on our progress. The chaffe point also needs to be identified and dealt
with.
