We arrived in Wrangell yesterday and spent the
night here. It is a small and friendly fishing village. This morning we are
leaving to go to Petersburg, about 40 n miles away. We pass through the Wrangell
narrows a 20 n mile pass which is narrow and shallow At mid way the tide flows
in opposite directions and maximum current is 6 knots so we need to arrive at
the mid point at slack water high tide (1730 hrs) that way we should have
current with us all the way and no current as we go through through the narrow
bit!
Thursday night was spent on a dock in Naha Bay
which we had to ourselves. Good walk to the lagoon although it was
raining!
Friday it cleared up and it looks as if we will
have a week of sunshine to come. We got to Anan Bay in time to go to the Bear
Santuary.Fantastic You must look at the Picasa photos with brown and black bears
catching salmon in the rapids. Eagles waiting to pick up the scraps.A grizzly
sat in the middle of the boardwalk and didn't want to let us
pass!
