We left the Faroes at 1200 yesterday under clear blue skies and with a nice following breeze. As we left the island group the wind gradually died and by 1800 yesterday we were motoring. The sun set at 2330 and we motored through the twilight until dawn at 0300 this morning .An overcast damp morning with fog patches although the sun did try and I got a couple of fixes with the sextant which was satisfying. As the day progressed the wind direction veered SSW and gradually picked up and we started motor sailing instead of just motoring. We spotted a few whales passing by and by 1800, sweet and sour chicken time, we were sailing again with 10 – 12 knots on the beam. As I go off watch Joe is driving on a course of 325C doing 6.3 knots with 87 nm to go to Seydisfjordur. A 36’ yacht called Becca Boo with a couple of girls on board who we met in Torshavn is on the same course 4.5nm away. They were happy to hear Fi contact them on the radio. Company is always good out here. Hopefully we’ll be in harbour later tomorrow looking for a shower. Oh and it’s cold.
