After a fairly wild night with gusts up to 35 knots the wind and seas
gradually subsided today as we move further north away from the influence of
southern ocean lows. As the wind eased wind vane steering needed constant
attention and so an hour ago we reverted to the autopilot and are now cruising
along on a full white sail reach at just under 6 knots. This morning on the ssb
net we contacted Griffon 2 approximately 1000 miles ahead, Kind of Blue heading
into Luderitz and Sanctuary, a 50 foot catamaran which left Cape Town a day
after us and has already pulled ahead. Apart from that its just us, the empty
sea and a deep blue sky. We made bread and brownies this morning and although
both fishing lines are out we’ve had no luck yet so beef stir fry for tea. All
well on board. |
