We arrived in Suduroy an hour or so ago and are now lying alongside the trawler quay in Vagur harbour. The crossing was fast and furious with lumpy seas, mist and latterly rain and fog to mark arrival. The islands only came into view when we were within 3 miles of land bouncing through the tide race off Arkaberg point. Vagur is a small settlement with neat colourful houses nestling against the grey green slopes. Everything is closed until Monday, including the shower block – but we’ll cope somehow. Crew in good spirits if a little damp but the boat heater is roaring away and the kettle is on.
