After a night of light winds and hand steering we had wind until midday and then it died and the sea flattened out into a long interval 2.5m swell. We're now motoring towards our destination at 6 knots. Before that, I put the cruising chute up at 0500 this morning and we were doing 6 knots in 9 knots true - the wind indicator occasionally showed 2 knots or just did revolutions - brilliant sailing in nice flat water, pity it didn't last. No whales or wild life except lots of portuguese man o war jellies everywhere. Maria put a line in the water earlier and had a dorado on the hook even before she'd closed the bail arm - must be the record for the quickest hooked fish. Spicy fishcakes tonight. All well on board with plenty of spare fuel.
