A large whale and her calf came within two boat
lengths of us as we entered Morten Bay this morning. Earlier a large pod of
pilot whales stayed with us for half an hour. Interestingly, apart from a few
birds this was the first wildlife we had seen since leaving New
Caledonia.
We are well ahead of our schedule and expect to be
at the Customs dock in Brisbane at about 8 this evening. I think we might
celebrate our arrival back in Oz after five years of cruising with a good bottle
of red. When we set out we had no idea that we return with an ocean
trawler!
