                | Position 29.01S  167.58E Arrived at 4.30am Saturday morning and joined
Southern Princess, Harmonie and Lady Kay at the very beautiful but rolly
anchorage. Terry and I spent the day fixing gear which included 3 trips up to
the top of the mast...not something I would like to do again in these
conditions. We have tried to fix the damaged headsail with the limited equipment
we have at hand. Time will tell whether it will hold up. The others went ashore and had spendid time. It is
certainly a place I would like to come back to .... by plane!  Getting
ashore involves jumping from the dinghy to the stone warf at the top
of a swell. Today (Sunday) we leave for Opua, 489 sea miles
away. With the forecast conditions we should be there on Wednesday
afternoon. John |
