I’ve re-read the last couple of entries and am guilty of forgetting to mention the arrival of Anne and Roddy in Anguilla on 21 Feb.  V. excited to have them join us, especially since they were unable to come aboard LS in 2011 – so welcome back!  Naturally they were a bit tired after their flight from London so first couple of days spent cruising gently, as reported earlier.  But they perked up quickly and we all enjoyed the rum punches at Elvis’ Bar before we left Anguilla.

So, picking up the story on 29 Feb, we are still to be found at Statia.  One more day, we resolve, and this time we are a bit more energetic.  Roddy and Mark climb the Quill while Anne and Elizabeth visit the museum and re-stock provisions.  We’re ready to depart.

Thursday, 1 March.
Set sail for St. Kitts and have magnificent day.  Weather fine, wind and sea just right.  We make speedy and comfortable crossing to the north of St. Kitts, at which point we are joined by dozens and dozens of dolphin which stay and play with us for well over half an hour.  A unique moment which everyone treasured.  Then an hour later, as we toddle down the West coast, we get a fish on the line and Roddy lands a beautiful Big Eye tuna.

This lovely fish provided us over the next couple of days with tuna all ways – sashimi, seared, tartare.  Yum!

We decide not to visit the town of Basseterre since it involves going into the marina and all that hassle.  Instead, we carry on to the south of the island and anchor in a virtually deserted bay (Ballast Bay) in calm water but with quite a breeze blowing off the beach as it funnels between hills on each side.  In spite of that, it was a quiet and secure night and the end of perfect day.
