Hi Everyone, we hope you are all well wherever you are?

It has been a while since we last made contact. We are now en-route to Barcelona, Spain (from Gibraltar) and we plan to arrive in Premia de Mar at the end of this month. Premia de Mar is where our journey with Lilli Mae started in 2021 and it is fitting that our Montego Bay adventure will end there. Once we arrive Lilli Mae’s blog stories will end.

Please let me know if you have had enough of our utterings and we will amend the blog circulation.

You may remember we arrived in Gibraltar at the end of June 2024. Lilli Mae has been moored in a very nice marina called Queensway Quay since then. Lilli Mae will head to Barcelona area and we will stop of at a couple of places but for now we are heading to Cartagena.

Whilst in Gibraltar we managed to visit a few places but on Monday (2nd September) before leaving the Gibraltar area we headed over the border to La Linea, Spain to pick up another crew member and complete the border formalities for entering Spain.

We set sail on Tuesday 3rd heading to Cartagena. Lilli Mae’s crew for this trip is Joan, Clare, Mike and Howard.

We motored overnight and found a nice bay to anchor called Rodalquilar on the eastern corner of Cabo de Gata. We stopped for a couple of hours rest and relaxation, swam and explored the area with the dinghy and generally had a thoroughly pleasant day!

At around 9 PM on Wednesday we weighed anchor and headed across the bay to Cartagena. We managed to sail most of that part of the journey with 10-15 knots of wind coming from the East. The sailing was great. We played around with Lilli Mae for a couple of hours just to burn time until daylight and then headed into the port.

Now we are just having a relaxing time in a very nice city! We have however spotted another “visitor” in the area.

When we were in St Maarten in February last year we spotted a beautiful yacht anchored “close" to us in Simpson Bay. It so happens that this was Jeff Bezos’ new yacht “Koru" on sea trials. Koru is currently “our neighbour” in Cartagena looking very nice.

Anyway that’s it for now. We are planning of heading toward Valencia on Sunday or Monday but we will keep you updated.

Just as a reminder you can see “back issues” of the Lilli Mae blog at http://blog.mailasail.com/lilli_mae and  keep track of our location using our tracker https://share.garmin.com/LilliMae. Given that we are now using land based data we would be happy to receive emails with any questions, comments or just general chat. It would be great to hear from you particularly as there will only be another 3 or 4 updates before Lilli Mae and her crew sign off.

Thanks again for your engagement in our journey and messages of encouragement.
All the best, The Crew aboard good ‘ole Lilli Mae
