Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well?
Right now we are anchored in Morehead City, North Carolina. We arrived here on Sunday (21st May) late afternoon. We covered 258 nm in the journey up from Charleston which took us 33 hours.

We managed to sail the last 20 or so miles of the journey but the engine was running for 30 hours of the total journey time. However Rick’s fishing tenacity paid off; on the way in to Morehead City we caught two Mahi Mahi.

Monday night we had a great Mahi Mahi Thai curry. Today (Wednesday 24th) we are having jerk Mahi Mahi!

We are anchored south of Sugar Loaf Island in Morehead City. And it looks as though the earliest we will leave here is Saturday (29th) afternoon; at the moment the wind is strong and it is forecast to increase even further over the next day or so. However the area we are in is quite nice and so we have decided to sit it out here until the wind is a little more favourable for our onward journey.

It is certainly no hardship. We have lots of food and we have data! We can go ashore and keep an eye on Lilli Mae from a selection of very convenient beer drinking vantage points! Judging by the number of sailing yachts that have anchored here yesterday it appears a lot of others have decided to do the same thing. The anchorage is comfortable and flat with not much motor boat traffic. Getting ashore and shopping is relatively easy. The big shops are a few miles away but easily accessible by Uber.

We have about 450 miles to go to our destination (Stratford, CT) and we are estimating Lilli Mae’s arrival sometime in the week commencing 5th June. We will of course keep you updated.

In the meantime take care wherever you are.
All the best.
