A quick update on progress. We left Sao Miguel yesterday at 12 noon with 24 other boats en route to Lagos, Portugal. It was an exciting racing start with boats crossing the start line from all directions outside the Punta Delgada harbour. Once we crossed the line it was then a drag race into the wind shadow of the island. 

We are currently about 200 nm ENE of Sao Miguel, motor sailing and looking for wind. Again! We do expect it to come tonight.

 

Lilli Mae is currently leading the fleet of about 24 yachts heading to the same place. Yes…that’s Lilli Mae in the red circle in the picture on the right 😀.

We can see a couple of the chasing yachts around us. We took this picture of the Finnish crew on White Knight a couple of hours ago. They are chasing hard!

We have about 600 nm to run. At our current speed and heading we expect to arrive in Lagos in about 4 days (Wednesday 19th). Hopefully we can stay ahead of the rest!
