After a night of dying breeze, slow speed and crap course the wind has filled again and we are humming along at 10 knots. The sailing today has been the kind you dream about; broad reaching with a full main and poled out genoa. We've got great sunshine and the swell is helping us to surf along. The boat is nice and flat and nearly quiet except for the odd straining line and the rush of water again'st the hull as the speed increases down a wave. If we can hold this weather back to Blighty we will be in good shape.

We were visited by a herd of long fin pilot whales this morning. Yes, a herd...not a pod, my book says so. Apparently the second largest of the dolphin family after the Orca. They were all black, about 20 individuals and this time they were content just to swim along with us for a while.

I found a packet of Aunt Jemima pancake mix...long forgotten I'm sure, but its flat sailing so I made some for lunch...a nice treat and moral booster. Not the same as a pint and a pie though.

I was just about to add our position to this blog and the GPS seems to be on the fritz. I hope it works again because I don't know where the sextant is. Fixed by the tried and tested method of turning the set off and on again.
