Monday was winch motor day prior the
the arrival of the engineer who was going to do the heavy lifting. John
unpacked the new winch motor and immediately saw, that unlike the previous
models which had to be laboriously held up underneath the deck from down below,
all 22kg, the installation had been modified. So it was possible to screw
an eye bolt (provided in the box) to the spindle of the motor and haul it up
from above, screw on the nut - job done. It took Chris and me about 30
minutes to complete the job. Once again we phoned the long suffering
engineer to tell him we did not need him. One week later whatever the
temperature it is working! Now we have the unusual situation that
everything on the boat is working. It cannot last for long!
Wednesday al fresco supper at
Hothothot in English Harbour.
Hothot Jaz Group - all amateurs and a
great sound!
Our resolve to go sailing around
Antigua over the weekend was weakened once again by the arrival of some good
friends whose paths we had not crossed for a few years. The result of
course was several parties on boats and ashore and we sat down with eight
to ten for dinner several occasions. We even managed a Sunday evening
visit to the steel band at Shirley Heights. We now plan to set sail and
head back south next week so we will see how the social calendar might interfere
with that.
Sunday evening at Shirley Heights
brings the masses for BBQ, rum punch and music.
