Oriole in St Lucia

We finally got out of Bequia on Wednesday - another
place where the social scene can be a bit captivating.
Bequia looking northeast.
A good days sail took us to Anse de Piton, St Lucia
where we were wedding guests almost exactly two years ago.
Even though it is more developed that it was thirty
years ago when it was totally wild and we were the only boat there, it still has
great appeal. The weather has been excellent for around a fortnight and we
have paused in Rodney Bay, St Lucia to catch up with some varnishing which had
fallen behind with so much rain in Trinidad.
Chris, varnish brush in
hand.
More friends turned up from Newton Ferrers
(Nicky and Richard Franklin) to sail with brother Michael with whom we have
shared anchorages in the last week. They really hit the good
weather! Michael's son James arrived last night from Canada
where he and his wife had just met up with Robert and Dani who are on
holiday in Whistler.
We hope to get up to Martinique and back in the
next week in time to pick up Andrew, a new dinghy floor and a new PCB for
our wind instruments which have been telling lies. Communications and
availability of spares is mightily improved, but we are now really putting it to
the test. A new Avon inflatable floor from UK would take a
month to arrive because nobody seems to have any stock, least of all Avon.
Whereas Avon US keeps a stock and can get us one here in 3 days, or so they
say!! But why can't we do it?
