We dropped anchor in the bay Cocina on the SW tip of Graciosa at 1700 last
Sunday and immediately dived overboard for a swim in glorious turquoise
water. We were the only boat in there for the first night but were joined
the next day by friends in their boat, we had met them in NW Spain. The
island of Graciosa is delightful, it has one very small town and fishing
harbour with a couple of restaurants, supermarket, bank and internet café!
John and I walked into Sociodad (a round trip of 5 miles on sandy track) for
lunch and fresh bread. Andrew climbed the hill above our anchorage and met
up with some young Australians and English, the first he had met since
leaving England, they were anchored in the next bay on Tempo II,
circumnavigating from Australia, so did not see a great deal of him for the
next couple of days. They had diving gear on board so he was in his element.
The wind increased on our third night and made the anchorage rather
uncomfortable, the wind was funnelling round the mountain, first coming from
one direction and them the other, although the anchor held well the boat was
sheering all over the place. The next morning we went round to the next bay
which had over 20 boats in, and spent the day and night there. Our friends
anchor was stuck solid so we were able to enlist the help of Sophia and her
diving gear on Tempo II and together with Andrew she managed to free them.
On Wednesday 10th Oct we had a great sail down to Puerto Calera on Lanzarote
where we have been ever since doing maintenance jobs and relaxing.

This is the last entry until we set off again sometime around the 11th
November.
