We are back in Falmouth after a luxuriously quiet
cruise around Antigua. Antigua is said to have 365 beaches and we had a
good look at most of them even if we didn't actually land everywhere and the
weather was great!
Jumby Bay, which had provided a wonderful lunch at
its hotel on Sunday and lots of swimming, gave further entertainment when a
charter yacht came in and went hard aground and spent an hour or more getting
off again. To complete our circumnavigation without a major backtrack we
needed to exit a very narrow unmarked channel through the reefs to the open sea
on the windward exposed side of the island. Although the light to see the reefs
was moderately good it was not as easy as John (piloting), with the aid of Lynn
and Ian (lookouts), had hoped and not a little nerve
racking for the helmsman (Chris).

Mamora Bay
A lunch stop in the beautiful and tiny Tenpound Bay
preceded a night of strong cold northerly winds in Nonsuch Bay when the nightime
temperature got down to 20C ! Finally we visited Mamora Bay where a
retired colleague of Lynn's has just built a magnificent house.
and the infinity
pool!
We were very well entertained for lunch looking out
over the bay with Oriole nestling far below. Now we are back in Falmouth
again and Lynn and Ian left us on Friday after a most enjoyable week for us and
we hope for them too. We are now getting on with a little maintenance and
plan to head south again later this week.
We thought the "prestigious" St James'
Club looked more like a Butlins Holiday Camp.
