Happy Easter from Grenada

Oriole

On Sunday we walked over to La Sagesse the small hotel on the beach where Chris and I have often stayed while working on the boat in the boatyard at St David's. After a swim and a lie in the evening sun we eat dinner to the accompaniment of the gently lapping swell on the beach.

From La Sagesse restaurant.

Our tour guide arrived promptly on Monday to collect us and we did Boney's version of the island tour for Liz's benefit.  Unfortunately the monkeys would not come out of the forest, the chocolate factory had closed down awaiting a vital spare part but the walk to the waterfall and freshwater pool more than made up for these.

We all swam in the pool.                                                                We have seen monkeys here before - really!

Onward to Hog Island where we met up with Thursday's Child OCC who are starting their trip to New Zealand via Panama and the Pacific Islands. Tanya and Graham joined us for supper on Oriole and we toasted their imminent departure. Liz was given another run ashore to the market and boutiques in St George's and we marked her departure with a great meal out. Unfortunately her last night was disturbed by an enormous swell creeping into the anchorage in Prickly Bay, so that poor Liz will not be just jet lagged when she gets home, but we hope she felt it was all worthwhile.  At least she had gained her sealegs!  The Customs and Immigration guy struck Liz off the crew list and we left her at the airport for her flight to Barbados. We are now back in the tranquility of Hog Island  after freeing our anchor which was fouled on a mooring chain.  The patent hook given to us by our technical guru at Coastline Technology worked a treat at sorting out what can be quite an irritation especially after the dinghy has been hauled aboard.  We will stay here until we head off for Trinidad sometime next week.

Lots of chat on Hog Island Beach on Sundays.

The beach is Grenada's answer to Cellars (NF readers will understand) but with ramshackle beach bar and barbeques on Sundays with access only by boat.  Being Easter weekend everyday will be a BBQ day for the little gathering of cruising yachts in the anchorage. There are a few clouds over the mountains but otherwise it is cloudless with a light tradewind breeze wafting through the anchorage. We will need a bit more wind for our trip to Trinidad.
