Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou is a very pleasant anchorage with crystal clear turquoise water
shared by yachts, local trading sloops, and a collection of barges and tugs.
There are several locally run restaurants along the beach serving great
local food, mainly fish and two dive shops, not to mention experts to deal
with any boat related problem and a small boatyard.  We dived with one of
the dive shops on Monday and explored one of the tugs which for the last two
years has been moored in the Bay increasingly becoming an eyesore and on one
occasion breaking free and going off on its own. The tug has been cleaned of
all its oil and other pollutants and taken out and sunk as a dive site.  It
has already attracted some lovely reef fish mainly French Angels and Queen
Angels which are normally not easy to find.

French Angelfish (about 1 foot long)

We seem to have gained enough confidence now to dive inside a wreck
although we still find it slightly un-nerving not to be able to look up towards
the surface.  However at 90 feet even in clear conditions you can't see it anyway!
We sailed down to Grenada in lovely conditions on Tuesday. Again there has been some very unusual weather in the Caribbean with lots of
cloud and rain, but we have luckily escaped it and have been sitting in a
lovely sheltered anchorage on the south coast of Grenada catching up with
maintenance. Chris has been busy with the varnish brush and yesterday I
stripped, cleaned, greased and re-assembled 5 winches which Chris is now
polishing.

Sunday morning and all quiet on da beach - just wait!

On Sunday afternoons the locals organise a barbeque on the beach "with plenty
food and drink mon" so we are gently starving ourselves in preparation.  On this
occasion last year Danni and Robert were with us but probably do not
remember much about it!
