On Sunday morning we watched Sea Shuttle
get underway from Nonsuch Bay and then disappear over the horizon for the
Mediterranean. We felt somewhat nostalgic to see Andrew's home of the last
eightenn months disappearing, but knowing her somewhat less than totally
seaworthy state were very glad that Andrew and his crew had declined to
take her back adcross the Atlantic. On Tuesday morning Sea
Shuttle reappeared in English Harbour with mechanical problems with her
steering which we felt rather vindicated Andrew's views! We think she has
now left again!
Just before midnight on Thursday Gill and Peter
Price were duly delivered to Oriole by ever faithful Oliver and after a
day to recover from their flights from the uk, and after an overnight
stop in Nonsuch Bay in idyllic conditions again, we sailed for
Guadeloupe.
Peter and Gill - old
hands.
We set off hard on the wind and were gradually
headed as the wind went southerly but as we neared Guadeloupe the wind
dramatically freed us and we managed to do the whole trip on one tack and had a
beam reach for the last few miles!
Yesterday we sailed into the Saintes and were later
joined by Gill and Peter's son Colin and his wife Liz and two children Zinia and
Cosmo who are sailing a large catamaran Pacific Bliss across the
Pacific and will be heading for Panama shortly. After a few days of family
bliss we will both head south and then go our separate ways.
